Modern telecommunication systems located at large distances require high reliability and low costs of maintaining the energy part. Ni-Cd batteries are used for powering these systems. They are charged by using photo-voltaic panels or, more rarely, wind generators.

Ni-Cd batteries for powering the above mentioned systems must be able to work in the temperature span between 20 and 50°C, they must have long life cycle and be capable of recharging under different charging regimes.
